Hahaha!!! Tips during a Cabin Crew Interview... :-)

Little note: I just had my fringe-cut and i seriously look like a nerd now!!!~Arghhhhhh!!!

Plenty of people asked me...about tips during a MAS cabin crew interview :-) Can, no worries. Therefore, we shall start from the requirements first ok. They would organize a recruitment from time to time. Just keep an eye on the website and local newspapers.

-Malaysian citizen aged between 18 to 30 years.

-Minimum SPM or any equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Mathematics and any other 3 subjects taken in one exam.

-Fluent in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Fluency in another language is an added advantage.

-Minimum height (weight in proportion): 165cm (male)/157cm (female)

-Excellent health and good eyesight. Not colour blind.

-Pleasant personality and a genuine passion in customer service.

These are the requirements, they are pretty strict and rigid with those, ensure you met those before you step in for an interview especially the height for the females. I still remembered clearly, for those who can't meet the minimum height, immediately will be sent straight back home without any mercy chances given ok. I witnessed it with my own eyes before. Some even weeping tears there.

For me i managed to go through. Emmm...my height is roughly 165cm tall. Of course i wished i was taller, like 172cm tall. That's my dream. Why do we need an average height of 157cm and above in Airlines???

-It's easier for you to close the "freaking compartments" on board....especially wide-body airplanes. Even me, sometimes i was a little struggled when closing it. No jokes, especially with big and huge heavy bags which protuding out a little, you definately need a little technique to close the "freaking compartments."

-Some goodies and things on board in the galley (kitchen) are being placed at the top. The taller you are, the easier for you to reach it.

-Some passengers love to ask you to stow their bags into the compartments. Some you can't even avoid it, let's say elderly passengers. So, the taller, the easier for you :P

Nevertheless, you only needed a SPM qualifications to apply this flying career. But likewise, if you possessed a Bachelors' Degree, it would be an advantage for you, just like me. Your communication skills, your thoughts and your deportment would shine on board. Passengers can really see those and differentiate you from others.

Now, let's me move to the tips during an interview.

1. For ladies...well groomed with make-up, do not let down your hair. Tie it well, if can bun it up. We are in service industry, we want a tidy, well-groomed and beautiful cabin crew.

2. Wear formal office attire. If you had a gorgeous Kebaya, better still. Don it on and strike for the interview. Furthermore, our uniform is Kebaya. Some interviewers, they love to see you in Kebaya.

Oh ya, last time i was with my formal office attire when i attended the interview (i borrowed those clothes from my mom actually :P). But i remembered i did tie a nice scarf around my neck which a friend of mine gave me when he travelled to Japan. I guess that particular scarf made me glow among others in that interview.

3. Smile more...smile more till your jaw drop. I am seriously here. It's like a DARLIE advertisement ok. Show your pearly white teeth to them. Walk femininely, walk like a lady. Speak confidently and clear.

4. If you didn't manage to answer those questions they threw to you, it's alright. No right neither wrong here. They just wanted to see they way you reacted and the way you handled the questions. Just smile and be confident.

5. Ensure you practice your Malay Language at home. Some cheeky interviewers, they would throw a question to you in Malay and request you to answer it in Malay as well. I encountered this during my interview. It was a long question somemore %$#*%$@@$^%$!!!! But luckily i managed to answer it since i am a "BANANA." I was studying in Kebangsaan School since primary. Hahahaha!!! Interviewer, Mr XXX, i did rock away you!!!!!!!~ I was the rock star!!! Other interviewees, their jaw just dropped!!!

If you interested, you can read this. It's a blog from a girl Elena Lee, she was proudly being selected as a volunteer in attending MAS Cabin Crew Training. I extracted this blog from MAS' Blog. At least you all would have a tiny imagination what is Cabin Crew all about, the training, the flying and so on.

Any questions, can just drop me a message here. I would try my very best to answer you all. Oooppsss...i didn't know that MAS, the company i am working it, they do have a blog :P
